Welcome to my new monthly newsletter at The Art of Enchantment, here on Substack. Those of you who were signed up to my original Mailchimp mailing list will find, as I indicated in last weekend’s newsletter, that you’ve been moved here automatically. I hope that you’ll enjoy the new newsletter format as much as I am; this is a platform which is much more writer-driven, as opposed to Mailchimp’s more marketing-driven approach, and that sits much more comfortably with me.

Every time I write a newsletter (usually the first weekend of each month) or a free article, you’ll receive it as usual, right here in your email inbox. You can also visit the home page for The Art of Enchantment, and browse free articles and previous newsletters at your leisure.

I do hope you’ll enjoy this content. You might be wondering why I ask for payment for access to additional writing, rather than just publishing it on a free blog. Well, as a writer, words are not only my passion, but my work. Royalties from my books and from commissioned articles form the major part of my income. I put a lot of words out into the world for free (on social media, in my newsletters, in interviews and podcasts) but writers, of course, need to earn a living from exercising their skills, just as other artists and creators do. My commitment to those of you who choose to become supporters of my work is to ensure that you receive something of value in return. Not just carefully crafted words, but ideas and inspiration for life. Because if I’m passionate about any one thing, I’m passionate about transformation. It’s only by transforming ourselves that we can hope to transform the world. And if we want to change the dominant, life-denying cultural mythology which is failing us and failing the planet, we also need to begin by transforming the myths that each one of us chooses to live by. We need to discover our personal calling, to uncover the unique gift that we each bring to the world at this time – and to understand our own individual mythopoetic journey through this life. That’s the foundation for all of my work.
