Thank you for this beautiful praise of place and home-- I think of the Scottish Gaelic word "dùthchas" in your meditation here. A word that conveys a deep connection with one's birth place, to the land. I also appreciate your historical reminder of the presences of Celtic people in what we call "England."
Greetings dear Sharon, I would love to be a paid subscriber, unfortunately I haven’t figured how to do that. Could you help and forward me the “how too”. I appreciate you, Geraldine
I was born and raised in Hartlepool too and still live in the North East - it’s one of the things that I feel connects me to your words and writing and your dedication at the beginning of Hagitude made me cry ❤️. I’m excited to read more about your thoughts and experiences in Hearth ✨
So much exciting news this month! Can't wait for the first oracle deck to be available. And I gasped when I read about your collaboration with Amanda Clarke!!
Hello Sharon, I love the Oracle Cards - I have been reading cards most of my life. I look forward to reading them and WOLFSKIN. Please let me know where to purchase. AND look forward to HEARTH! LA
I love Whitby. I was on the front of a Whitby Travel Journal many years ago at a Viking event. I drove a coachload of Vikings and Anglo Saxons there as I was the only one with a clean license!
Also, the story of Persephone was one of the first of the myths I illustrated. Love Hecate, Psyche and Persephone... and their spiritual adventures! xx
I have been looking forward to your book on Place/home and eagerly await its publication in 2025. The oracle cards are beautiful! And as a Hearth member I will say it is well worth it and urge others to join!
Well Sharon. I too am excited about Hearth. My family are from the NE and when I did my DNA it showed all my English blood to be from the borders down to North Yorkshire. It feels like home to me there, and although Ireland is my home now, I feel different when I’m in the North East. It was good to hear about your trip to Whitby My paternal grandmother lived there and all my childhood holidays included time in Whitby. I love it. Your writing brought back happy memories. Did you have Trillos ice cream?
An Irish friend of mine had a lift in an Irish coracle (Currach) in a stormy sea from an Island to the mainland and was told that the best one to take him was the fisherman who didn't swim. A group of women relatives on the shore sang together to get them safely ashore. He said they bobbed and spun upon the waves and he prayed the entire time!
Oh I love that poem by William!

You press the upgrade button on the Art of Enchantment home page on Substack. If you're not seeing that then with apologies I'm a bit stumped.
Thank you

I didn't! It was a hut down by the harbour with lots of different flavours. Next time :-)
I agree, the Gododdin are definitely still here - I consider myself one of them too, and am SO excited for Hearth when the time comes!

Yes, I like that idea that he's rather more majestic when he's not confined. I'll check on that Gaelic thing since my husband is a speaker!
