Blessings of the emerging energy of this time in your part of the world. If you are moving to a valley, then there must be a mountain? I hope so as you clearly love them and the fierce Cailleach energy dwelling there. May you find there all the long winter darkness that enriches and inspires your creations.
CARA Sharon, I have so enjoyed, deeply appreciated both your books tremendously. (Women Rooted & Hagitude) As I read them I was moving around the globe! I too went back to my ancestral land and I couldn't stand it. HA! Now I am back where I was born and my heart is here but it's kinda broke too. Thank you for being here and sharing your lovely work. Maybe I can share a flash fiction story with you one day.
Thank you for the introduction to Twelve Moons by Caro Giles - is there any way to pass onto her a vote for her to make it available as an ebook format through Kindle on Amazon? Thank you! ✨🌟💖🙏🕊️
Twelve Moons by Caro Giles is already on Amazon in Kindle format, as well as on Apple ibooks. On both platforms it is in both ebook and audio format. Cheers
I was 11 or 12 when I first felt the stirrings in early Feb., in a park near my suburban home. I couldn't articulate it then but I have long since cone to understand the sacred power of new life rising.
Thanks for sharing your moving journey(s) with us, Sharon. That photo is gorgeous! With a sun sign in Sagittarius and a moon and rising in Taurus (and a very Vata constitution in Ayurveda!) moving and traveling have always been an interesting tug-of-war for me. I live in the US, but, I've managed to visit Ireland twice and Scotland three times (all within 4 years!) A huge chunk of my heart lies in that part of the world. 💚
So glad that the direction of moving is following a satisfying path so far. It sounds like a wonderful part of the world to move to, along with the convergent paths of your ancestry and new book. Sending all good energy as the process unfolds.
Good luck on your move Sharon. It's funny how the world has a way of getting you to where you're meant to be, for a particular season of your life, isn't it? And I'm personally excited to here that it's to where I live in the Eden Valley. Perhaps I'll see you on a walk somewhere!
Sending welcome greetings from just over the Cumbrian border in Northumberland with a big welcome back to the North when you arrive. The kettle is always on and door open if you would like a brew. xx
I am from Cumbria, although living in Ireland now. It was only after moving here that I found I had an Irish great-grandfather. Perhaps that explains why I have always felt such a deep sense of homecoming and connection in the Irish landscape. Best wishes for your return to your ancestral home.
Thank you Sharon, it has, been quite a journey for you and I wish you all (Maeve and other creatures included!) a wonderful home coming with hopefully the best of all worlds. I look forward to hearing more heartwarming inspiration as the story unfolds.
I too have romanticised my Irish ancestry (four great grandparents and one stray somewhere on the other side) only to discover my DNA says mostly Scotland, Scandinavia and West Yorkshire. Apparently the first two are not unusual in the recently Irish! Cumbria is an area I know next to nothing about, so I greatly look forward to reading more once you’re settled. Even from my distant perspective, this move feels like a wonderful homecoming for you. I hope it all goes smoothly.
Is there any specific reason you did not want to return to Scotland? We are looking to move to the Cairngorms area soon and just wondering why you chose not to return? Thanks! I love you work. I am so glad I found you!
Because it was time to reclaim my much-neglected motherlands in the north of England, not my fatherlands. (My father's family/ancestry is from Edinburgh and the Borders. I spent much of my childhood hopping between, and another 12 years living in Scotland full time.) Hope you find your place in the beautiful Cairngorms. Heart of granite.
Sharon, I felt quite emotional reading your announcement of moving to the Eden Valley and being near Teesdale, all beautiful landscapes and a little 'on the edge' but also closer to family. Living in Hartlepool myself those are areas we have been most recently exploring for similar reasons to you. There have been hurdles that have given us the message that now is not the time but I know in my bones it will be at some point. As someone who has had big impact on the second chapter of my life I do hope you will grace us with your presence in the region both personally and professionally and feel that you are home. From one hag to another, hoping that your move goes smoothly.
Thank you, Sarah. I've spent my entire life since I was ten and taken away from it, it seems, denying England and the north. Imagining that the Irish and Scottish parts of my heritage were much more romantic. And now it's just not having it any longer :-) From the industrialised setting of Seaton Carew beach where I grew up to the wild westlands of Westmorland where those ancestors are from, I intend now to give it my all. Wishing you well on your own journey.
Love this insight into Imbolc
Thank you
Congratulations on your new venture into your homeland! Imagining such an opportunity brings up such emotions. ‘So very happy for you!
Thank you!

There are ‘fells’, which means a high hill or mountain. I think there’s enough wild energy there for me! And thank you.

Thank you, Lisa – good energy much appreciated in an unsettling time!

Funny indeed! We'll be in Mallerstang, hopefully.
A gorgeous place. We're in the lower Eden area, in Penrith. Hopefully the move goes well.

Thank you so much. The DNA results offer a fascinating perspective, don't they!
