Beautiful words and photo, Sharon. I agree 100% with no resolutions. I do non-stressful “intentions” for the year but no stress on when I decide on them.

Also, thank you so much for sharing your course at the Kosmos Institute! It looks fantastic! Their entire catalog does. Also very excited about the new oracle deck; just pre-ordered from the States.

Thank you and yes, intentions sounds gentler! Kosmos is a brilliant new venture; I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops.

First-timer here and may I say how comforting it is to see what I feel reflected in your eloquent words: the weirdest two weeks of the year, the sense of time-out-of time, the bracing for the onslaught and mourning the slow fading of the long dark . . . This year has been different for many reasons and it is so very reassuring to know I am not the only one who feels these things. Thank you.

Oh, that photo of Chase, looking back, so happy and excited that you are coming along with him on the journey. What a lovely companion. I am wishing you plenty of energy to write your book, and many peaceful hours of walking with the barn owls and dreaming by the fireside. xo

He is a very smiley dog. And compared to the other two harridans, an easy companion off the lead on a walk! Happy New Year, Carmine.

Good article, I liked it a lot. The information about the oracle deck prompted me to hunt up my Songbird Identification cards.

Happy New Year Sharon. I've joined the Hearth so am looking forward to the women's spirituality discussions at Temenos.

Rather that set resolutions I set some goals, to follow the cycle of the year, seeding planting harvesting etc, usually around creative endeavours..I always throw a full rune casting for the year and then record what the runes say. Then revisit at the end of the year.

Dear Sharon,

The new oracle looks magnificent. I was planning to treat myself to a new deck for my birthday in April but hadn’t yet found one that appealed enough. Now I have. It spoke to me instantly, so I will patiently wait until September 9th.

All good wishes for the new year

Hello Dr. Balckie, I am already looking forward to the new oracle card set. I hope the quality of the material this time can match the quality of the painter's pictures and your text. The colour reproduction when printing Rooted Women was not good enough. The colours are too dark, washed out without clear contrasts (there is no real white or black) and the cardboard of the cards themselves is thin and does not lie flat on the table, but rather flop up. A professional would have been needed to supervise the printing. Hayhouse is cutting corners here.
