Thank you so much, Sharon, for your suggestion that we get into conversation with those who have differing opinions. Here in Germany, 20 something % of the voting population voted AfD, but almost nobody in local government seems curious to know what these folk in their own constituencies actually want. I'm not a big fan of theirs, but it's not good that they should be so completely cancelled? Just makes more division.
Precisely. Even if we believe that their parties/ political leanings are heading in a negative direction, most people care passionately about something that makes them want to vote a particular way, or makes them want to call for revolution. I'm interested in what that passion is, because unless we all try to understand what the other longs for, there's no chance for us.
Dr. Blackie, a deep thank you for holding the thread and reminder that we are not unique, that terror and injustices delivered by the over culture have been part of the human condition since the beginning. I began to bristle with the comment on ‘cocooning for too long’ as I have worked for over 30 years with incest and priest abuse cases as a therapist. Cocooning has been a way forward for many who were ripped so early from their innocent beds. (And, I rather like butterflies and gardens). Your response on describing your path of resistance as art, writing, and encouraging transformation was pitch perfect.
Thank you both! One of the things that's been cool about having a little kid is going back to fairy tales. Recently I got her and my niece Rebecca solnit's retelling of Cinderella called Cinderella liberator. I highly recommend! I mean what could b better than Rebecca solnit retelling a fairy tale?
Thank you for this conversation - very much appreciated, especially as I'm at a bit of a trapeze moment, so that question about what to be in the world I want to be in is live for me right now.
Thank you for sharing this Sharon. I loved listening to this conversation- it was energising and inspiring. A beautiful example of inspiring collaboration. A beautiful gift this morning as I head into my day. I shall re-listen but also carry this with me all day as the themes percolate for me. Thank you as ever. 🥰
What a great conversation!💗

Thank you :-) And yes indeed re cocooning. That’s tough work you do.
What an open and stimulating conversation! This fed my heart and mind. Thank you for sharing it with us, Sharon.
Thank you Sharon.
Also did you see that Maya c. Popa offered a class on poetry and fairy tales over on poetry today?!

Terrific—thank you very much for the perspectives and the call to action!
I love the challenge to lean into our gifts—the gifts we need to offer to create the better world!
